The Kanen I39 headphones are packaged in a molded plastic insert inside of a colorful and informative retail package. They are lightweight and allow quite a bit of adjustment thanks to the sliding ear cups and hinged cup mount. The majority of the headphones are made of plastic with a soft touch coating and feel well made. The headband and ear pads are covered in a padded vinyl like material and are fairly soft. All cables are nylon braided and feel extremely nice. The plug portion is right angle and features a nice rubber strain relief. The inline microphone and single button control is made of plastic. This unit also houses a microphone to use the headphones for calls and voice commands.
Thanks to the low weight and padded headband and ear cups, these headphones are very comfortable even for extended listening. They allow for enough adjust-ability that they should fit just about anyone. While these are not the most efficient or best sounding headphones I have used, they do well for the cost. You will have no problem powering them with a phone which will still allow them to get decently loud. As for how they sound, they put an emphasis on the mid range which highlights vocals and makes the sound stage seem larger. There is a noticeable dip in the high and low range that some people may not like.
At the end of the day these are not the best sounding headphones available even at their price point, but they do get a lot of things right that many at this price point do not. They look great, are made well, allow for extreme adjust-ability, and remain comfortable even after hours of use. Taking all of this into consideration, if you are looking for an affordable pair of headphones that are comfortable and durable, I would highly recommend taking a look at the Kanen I39 headphones.
